IT Software Development Manager
Primary Purpose
In this role, the Software Development Manager will be responsible for assisting in the execution of the technology roadmap and managing the software development team. The Software Development Manager will report directly to the Vice President of Technology and partner with colleagues within the technology team. This role will have both deep technical expertise and proven experience managing internal teams and external contractors globally.
Envita Solutions is nearing the end of a development platform change and entering the next phase of modernization. As this next phase completes, the development process will be inherited from the external team. The Software Development Manager will be responsible for growing and maturing a high-performance team that will provide efficient and innovative solutions for its business teams.
While initially spending time understanding the business and platforms and tool usage, this successful candidate will mentor to continue to develop the skills of the team. Bringing proven hands-on experience to the team will be important, while having the awareness and ability to share as a development skill. The manager will also work to ensure cross-training within the team to ensure capabilities of coverage to guarantee that work continues, and excellent application support is provided, even in the absence of a team member.
While not directly be responsible for network and hardware support, the Software Development Manager will work to facilitate those needs are addressed with THG enterprise IT Shared Services (ITSS) group. This will include working with the Shared Services DevOps group to ensure a highly available platform exists so the business can get work done.
Essential Responsibilities
- Partner with the IT Project Manager to ensure the team is updated and ready to perform, including but not limited to, ensuring development scope is completed on time; manage release of schedules; and communications plans necessary for success
- Prepare to support and enhance the target core .NET platform and application post lift and shift
- Manage and coach the development team to support individual growth and skill development
- Take responsibility for product quality including oversight of code architecture and participation in code reviews
- Work closely with the enterprise to ensure solid foundations exist to provide reliable platforms and applications for the business

Education
- High school diploma or its equivalent required
- Bachelors degree in related field of computer science, Information Technology
Experience Needed
- Minimum 3-year experience in a leadership role
- Minimum 4-year experience in the .NET platform (including .NET Core, .NET Web API and ASP.NET Core)
- Minimum 4-year experience with software design, object-oriented programming (OOP) and design patterns
- Minimum 2-year experience with Agile framework tools Jira and Confluence
- Minimum 2-year experience working with databases such as Oracle and Microsoft SQL
Knowledge and Competencies Needed
- Understanding of the Kubernetes platform and implementation
- Hands on knowledge with CI/CD tools; preferred experience with Gitlab and TeamCity
- Knowledge of Agile development methodology and experience in SCRUM teamwork
- Deep understanding of both, front-end and back-end, full-stack development
- Direct software test plan creation and test plan progress reporting
- Responsible for the competence, chemistry and contributions of the software development team and QA members
- Effective at managing a team and external vendors in a global setting
- Strong desire to professionally grow, learn and explore new ideas as a continual learner
- Effective project management skills
- Effective written and verbal communication skills
