Operations Manager, Organics

Primary Purpose

Within a business unit, the Operations Manager is to manage teams responsible for providing manufacturing support services including, but not limited to, organics waste consulting, data management, invoice consolidation and procurement services. The position manages a team of Senior Program Managers/Program Managers, and Program Coordinators. The Operations Manager works with his or her Director of Operations and other Managers in the business unit to create effective organics waste programs and management tools to allow for successful team and company growth.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times
• Manage team, including hiring, training, coaching, performance management
• Develop operational goals and objectives aligned with organizational priorities
• Serve as the key point of contact and escalation for customers at the corporate level
• Ensure maximum productivity by analyzing account team for adequate staffing needs based on customer and contract demands
• Champion the execution of operational organic initiatives within the business unit to maximize customer experience, compliance, safety, growth, and durability
• Collaborate with cross-functional team members on new and existing organic specific customer contract negotiations and renewals
• Partner with compliance team to ensure proper procedures and processes are followed for proper disposal of organic waste
• Prepare operational performance reviews for internal leadership
• Prepare and present corporate organic customer updates on a regular basis
• Develop partnerships with specific vendors to optimize compliant service opportunities for organic waste by-product solutions
• Preparation of annual budget for client's organic waste management activities
• Monitor adherences to budget and negotiate changes with clients as needed
• Oversee effective safety, compliance, and accident/incident prevention programs to ensure all reasonable actions and best practices are in place
• Assist with escalated customer aging requests
• Review and advise on organic customer proposals prepared by account teams
• Develop a best-in-class team and workplace culture and effectively manage performance and talent development; drive best-practice sharing
• Foster lasting relationships with clients and supplier partners focused in the organics industry segment
• Travel required as needed for client/business purposes approximately 30%.

Education:

• High school or its equivalent required
• Bachelors degree in related field preferred

Experience:

• Minimum 4 years' experience providing consultative solutions to clients required
• Minimum 2 years' experience managing others required
• Must have proven knowledge and experience in the manufacturing and by-products of organic industry

Knowledge and Abilities:

• Experience in leading and implementing effective business initiatives that drove results
• Experience balancing and delivering multiple projects in a deadline driven environment
• Must possess a strong attention to detail
• Strong time management skills
• Excellent communication and relationship building skills
• Must be comfortable building relationships in-person and remotely
• Ability to solve problems and provide solutions with limited direction
• Ability to write and review business proposals
• Strong Microsoft Office skills, must have hand-on experience with Excel
• Sound knowledge and understanding of various federal, state, and local industry-related regulations.
