Recyclables Material Handler I

Primary Purpose

This position will perform collection, movement, sorting, and processing of all wastes and by products in a fast paced manufacutring facility environment safely and in accordance with Company, Federal, State, and local regulations/rules.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

• Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
• Load and unload solid and liquid waste & recyclables safely in accordance with Company, Federal, State and local regulations/rules.
• Utilize hand trucks, pallet jacks, fork trucks with attachments and other handling equipment to move material to and from trucks and within the facility.
• Safety operate equipment to process materials including balers, shredders, grinders, extractors, pumps, tanks and pressure washers.
• Properly sort materials based on pre-established guidelines for additional processing.
• Perform cleanup and housekeeping duties as directed.
• Utilize knowledge of applicable EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations.

Education: High school diploma or equivalent required.

Experience: Prior forklift operation experience preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities: This is a safety sensitive position. The ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function. Basic knowledge of EPA, DOT and OSHA regulations preferred. Ability to understand general industry practices. Ability to lift up to 60 pounds. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator. Regular and predictable attendance is an essential function of this job.
