Safety Coordinator

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

Responsible for administering and overseeing the health and safety programs of the recycling and processing center. Supports the conformance with federal, state and local regulations and company safety and health policies. Acts as a safety representative in the achievement of improved safety performance across a wide range of the facility operations. Partners with leadership and Corporate Safety Leader on creating a safety culture that represents that values and mission of the company.

Essential Functions and Responsibilities

  • Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
  • Champions the Company's Culture of Safety and supports a culture of safety-first behaviors and decisions.
  • Audits work site to ensure conformance with safety, health and environmental requirements and corporate policies; recommends and monitors corrective actions.
  • Partners with leadership in improvement of losses from injuries, liabilities and property losses; supports policies and procedures to ensure compliance with standards and safety practices.
  • Coordinates training needs, and conducts safety and health training programs.
  • Administers the use and support of incident management software.
  • Performs incident investigations, monitors completion of action items, manages safety observations, and addresses any system-wide implications.
  • Supports the Company with OSHA, DOT and other regulatory officials regarding interpretive issues, inspections, investigations, and enforcement actions.
  • Aggregate and review information on safety performance for purposes of identifying any trends or patterns, for corrective or preventive measures.
  • Coordinates the injury management program process.

Education: High School Diploma/GED Required. Four year college degree beneficial, safety/science major preferred.

Experience: Minimum 1 year experience working in health and safety related responsibilities.

Knowledge and Abilities: Knowledge and understanding of all federal, state, and local laws and regulations pertaining to occupational safety and health. Strong organization and communication skills required. Ability to wear personal protective equipment, including respirator preferred. RCRA knowledge a plus.

A post offer drug screen will be required.
