Strategic Manager, Projects
Primary Purpose
Strategically assess, develop, propose and manage projects within team or customer expectations and constraints. Oversees safety and adherence to timeframe and costs throughout the project to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction. Supports other projects and managers as needed. Will work closely with Directors and leadership to implement corporate directives, and initiatives.
Essential Functions and Responsibilities
- Ensures Health & Safety is the number one goal by following policies, processes, and acting in a safe manner at all times.
- Assesses and fulfills project needs in terms of equipment and labor, oversees safety and adherence to timeframe and costs throughout the project to ensure external and internal customer satisfaction.
- Plans for initiation of project by scheduling resources; visits sites prior/during project as needed; orders supplies, equipment, trucks and drivers for projects.
- Must be able to provide timely, concise and relevant information to customers, management and coworkers.
- Be intimately involved in scoping, risk assessment, and pricing of projects, assuring proper margin is quoted. Prepare required reports, including proposals, cost estimates, comprehensive scopes of work, and shipping volume reports.
- Develop a strategic approach to management of new wastestreams, logistics and evaluation of Supplier Partnerships to ensure industry competitiveness.
- Act as an agent of business and is involved with developing and maintaining relationships with key customers and vendors. Interfaces with internal and external customers, contractors and subcontractors.
- Determines project responsibilities by identifying project phases and elements; securing resources to phases and elements; reviewing bids from contractors and determining waste disposal or destruction options.

- Act as liaison for Supplier Partners and Enterprise Program Managers in dealing with project related activities at existing customer facilities.
- Negotiates project terms and pricing with third party suppliers/contractors.
- Develop and deliver progress reports, proposals and presentations.
- Responsible for timely invoicing, cash-flow, profitability and aging for all project related activities.
- Utilize Salesforce to track and manage project information
- Support development of strategies related to identification and driving project success with new customers during the implementation phase.
- Support Strategic Solutions Team with larger scale projects.
- Support company Project Managers by identifying, formalizing or developing best practices and efficiencies with the purpose of improving cash flow and margins.
- Support both enterprise and non-contract project opportunities.
- Develop key relationships to drive non-contract opportunities.
- Attend and participate in key market functions and conventions to identify new opportunities, customer and vendor relationships.
- Support Operations team with development of strategy for driving project opportunities.
- Visit customers as needed to scope and/or manage projects. Must be able to travel 40-60% of the time, and willing to travel internationally.

Education: High school diploma or it's equivalent required. Four year college degree and/or CHMM certificate preferred.
Experience:
- Minimum three (3) years' customer account management, experience managing industrial wastes, environmental or related projects and providing consultative solutions to clients.
- Experience with waste management, remediation and environmental cleanup activities or environmental industry experience required.
- Experience with electric vehicle development and electric vehicle batteries beneficial.
Knowledge and Abilities:
- Ability to work in a constant state of alertness and in a safe manner is an essential function.
- Proven ability to perform field work, write reports and manage multiple projects in a quality manner.
- Strong attention to detail
- Effective time management skills to balance and deliver on multiple projects in a deadline driven environment.
- Ability to interface with internal and external customers, contractors and subcontractors with limited direction
- Ability to develop new business in a fast paced environment.
- Proven ability to solve problems and build trusted relationships with key customers and vendors.
- Solid knowledge and understanding of various federal, state and local industry-related regulations.
- Strong business writing and Microsoft Office skills.
- Excellent communication and relationship building skills.
- Hazardous waste experience a plus.
- Travel required and must be willing to travel internationally as needed.
A post offer drug screen will be required.
